Hearing in color — unique album art with the tool of synesthesia
Using synesthesia to translate music to visuals — process
I am a synesthete, which means that I have sensory reactions to sounds – I hear music in very specific colors and have bodily reactions to it. Every song is linked to a unique combination of impulses.
Apart from being NYU's guinea pig for all things synesthesia, I use this ‘condition’ (although I’d much rather refer to it as magic) to make musically-based collage art that has a specific tone and applies a subconsciously motivated process. I do use this technique to create album covers, merch, and ads -- most recently for Verve and Impulse at Universal Music Group.
I do offer a variety of services, including original covers, licensing and visual strategy/ aesthetic execution over an extended period of time (includes single and album covers, ads and consulting). Based on the synesthetic impulses unique to your sound, I will build an aesthetic for your music. After this, you will get all services at a 25% off rate. You can renew the service every six months if desired.
